Pick Matter if you want a read-later app: a queue of articles, threads, and PDFs, with audio and highlights. Pick Yuri if you rarely sit down to read the thing, and you still want the idea from a social post to be searchable later.
Matter is a reader. Yuri is a library of links you sent on purpose.
Comparison
| Yuri | Matter | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Turning a saved post or link into a searchable idea | Reading articles and threads later, in a dedicated app |
| Capture | Telegram, or one click in Chrome | Share, browser extension, and the Matter apps |
| Sources | Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, web pages | Articles, threads, PDFs, and newsletters, as Matter describes them |
| Organisation | Automatic tags on Basic and Pro | A reading queue, tags, and highlights |
| AI | Explanation, ideas, and drafts on Basic and Pro. Ask Yuri on Pro | Not the centre of the product. Matter is built around reading, listening, and highlighting |
| Search | Basic and Pro | Find things you saved into Matter |
| Privacy and platform | Only the links you send or save. Not your other Telegram conversations | The Matter account you save into, on iPhone, iPad, and the web |
| Price | Starter €0 (25 links a month). Basic €4,99/month or €49,99/year. Pro €12,99/month or €129,99/year | Not quoted here. Matter’s current public pages do not state one price this review can stand behind |
Matter’s product, as described on hq.getmatter.com, is a read-later app: save articles, threads, and PDFs, follow newsletters, listen in audio, highlight, tag, and use a browser extension on iPhone, iPad, and the web. An older patron page has mentioned subscription numbers, and the App Store has listed several different prices. Those do not agree, so this page does not pick one and call it current. Check Matter before you pay. Yuri’s published prices are on the pricing section.
Queue versus library
A read-later queue wants to be emptied. You save, you read, you highlight, you archive. That matches long articles. It matches a TikTok poorly, because there is nothing to settle in with.
Yuri does not try to be the place you read. On Basic and Pro it keeps what the link said, a short explanation, and tags, so you can search “the one about invoices” without replaying the post. Starter keeps the link only, 25 a month. There is no listening mode and no highlight pen. If you want those, Matter has them and Yuri does not.
The image above is Yuri’s cat, not a picture of Matter. You can see the capture flow on the homepage and add the button from the extension page.
Choose Yuri if
- The saves are social posts, and you want the point more than a reading session.
- Telegram is already where links show up.
- You do not need audio playback of articles.
Choose Matter if
- You will actually read or listen to a queue.
- Highlights on articles are the memory you want.
- You want an iPhone and iPad reading app, not a Telegram bot.
